About the Author
The author is the president of a multi-million dollar software development firm. He is the author of nine books, and is nationally respected for his ability to communicate complex ideas clearly. Mr. Brain formerly taught in the Computer Science Department at North Carolina State University, where he was elected to the prestigious Academy of Outstanding Teachers for his work in the classroom.

Great Book!

This is a great book to read as a parent, and then give to your pre-teenager, in doses. It is an indirect way to teach your child alot of common sense to help them grow up. They'll be more apt to read it than listen to you! Chapter 1 is the best way to begin, since it is about money. Kids have really no concept of how much they'll need to save, since they have no real bills to pay. I'm glad I bought it.

Lots of invaluable guidance, written in an accessible way

I just finished reading a library copy of this to see if it would be good for my teenage son. I am extremely impressed. It's very readable, and there are many chapters filled with wisdom it took me 35 years to attain...wouldn't it be nice if my son got a head start? I don't agree with every idea in the book, (sometimes Brain strikes me as a bit too conservative) but he's written the kind of book that could get a teen's attention, hold it, and serve as a good, solid, no-nonsense guide to life--from figuring out a career to getting respect, learning humility, understanding social forms, pursuing relationships, and being effective in whatever you choose to do. I'm placing my order for a copy now.
