This book is a sarcastic look at people who are of the off road crowd and my own personal expeireinces in Alaska with friends and family. There's a description of just about every kind of person who hangs around or has hung around the muddin and offroad scene, from the Idiot to the Go or Blow. yah, i even make fun of my own dumn ass in it haha. Yah there's cussin in it, so I apologize to those of you who were raised with virgin eyes and ears. Read it anyway, you just might find yourself laughing. Oh, and yes i realize a lot of the spelling is incorrect. Most of this book is written in what i like to call "redneckaneese". Politically incorrect? yah it is, oh well. I'm just a good ol boy and i wrote it for guys and gals like myself to get a laugh, lord knows we all need that as crappy as things are these days. Hope ya'll enjoy it.

About the Author
I was inspired to write this book from observing people over the years and some of the stupid and crazy stuff they do with their trucks off roading and trashing them in the mud and what makes them do it, including myself. I was living in this little town by the name of murphysboro, Illinois. I wrote this book during my time there and i'll tell ya, I got a lot of inspiration there for this book, god love ya'll, great little town if ya ask me. Lost a girlfriend, but gained a family. Pretty fair trade haha. Now i'm not much of a reader, just give me a repair manual with a lot of pictures and I'm good. what the hell ive done just about everything else, might as well write a book too. it was fun doing it. hopefully you just might find the redneck inside yourself.

I read this book and thought is was great. I was laughing at the stories and descriptions in the book. For those who like a good laugh this is a must have. And for all you rednecks out there you will read this book with a grin on your face thinking you've done that or something very similar to what you read in this book.

Familiar Territory For King Fans, But Worth A Look.

I hustled through this book so I could have it finished by the time Part 1 of Rose Red aired. It wasn't too hard to do- at 252 pages, it's one of Stephen king's shortest books in quite some time...and YES, I do think that Stephen king wrote this. He peppers the book with numerous clues that longtime readers will pick right up on, the style and syntax are consistant with his other books, and he even gives himself a cameo appearance as the replacement Postal Worker.
The "Diary" itself treads familiar ground- A Haunted House (The Shining), and another subject that King has pretty much done to death- the opression of women (Rose Madder, Dolores Claiborne, Gerald's Game, etc.). Anyone who has read these books will find nothing new here. I think The Shining was pretty much the last word on The Haunted House/Bad Place, and the only innovation here was the Diary format. (The book is beautifully designed to look like a real Diary; Very cool.) The House itself seemed like a larger-scale, live-in version of King's haunted car, Christine.
King does do a good job with the Diary's "Author", Ellen Rimbauer; It's hard not to feel sorry for this woman, trapped in a loveless marriage, and prisoner in a house that has no intention of ever letting her leave.
All in all, not a bad book, but not one of King's best. I did enjoy seeing some of the events from the diary come to life on Part One of the Rose Red mini-series. As a TV tie-in, the Diary is great; as a book alone, it's pretty standard stuff....

I read the beginning of the book and loved it cant wait to finish it. The book came in great quality the only reason i gave it three stars is because shipping took waaay too long for how much they charged me. Otherwise than that i love it! :)

Mansions of the Mind

It never hurts for a book dealing with the paranormal and horror to have a little mystery surrounding who actually wrote the book, along with all the media hype promoting the TV mini-series. For the record, this was written by Ridley Pearson, not Stephen King, though King was certainly aware of its gestation.
But who wrote it matters little versus the prime requisite: is it readable? Does it provoke the spine-tingling feeling that some of the best in this genre can?
It's certainly readable. The characterization of the main character Ellen Rimbauer is truly excellent. She starts as a woman who is a rather naive nineteen year old, and progressing through her thoughts and feelings about marrying a man twenty years her senior with a reputation as a 'ladies man'. How she manages her husband and his wayward ways forms one of the continuing lynch-pins of this tale. As she matures, she also starts to feel some attraction to those of her own sex, the depiction of which I felt was well done for a lady of Victorian sensibilities. But later, we are given a portrait of a woman who is slowly losing her grip on reality (or as an alternative explanation, the world she inhabits becomes truly strange). The house she lives in, and eventually becomes almost a prisoner of, Rose Red, is really the other main character, as it grows from the greatest mansion in Seattle to a house known for disappearances, murders, and suicides. On the basis of character alone, this is a worthwhile read.
But on the other aspect, the paranormal land of ghosts, inexplicable fears and visions, and houses with desires of their own, this book doesn't succeed as well. Perhaps I found the parallels with a real house of mystery, the Winchester Mystery House located in San Jose, CA, (and at which my son is a tour guide) to be just a little too strong. It too had a magnate husband and a lady mistress who, especially in her later years, believed that she would live forever if only she would keep building on the house, leading to some very strange architectural features of stairways leading directly into ceilings and doors that open to a three-story drop. Within this book, the appearance of ghostly visions, the voices at a seance, the concept of the house being possessed by the ghosts of Indians who were buried on the site of this house, never seemed to quite gel with me, never produced the frisson that I was hoping for. I think, perhaps, that I found these elements to be a little too standard, with little originality to them.
The literary device of enfolding this whole story within a supposed doctoral dissertation and university investigation was a nice touch, but added little to it as a story, and it would have read just as well without it.
Still, a quite entertaining read, with an excellent look inside the mind of someone who changes from a very normal woman to something very strange, and making her journey to this mindscape very believable in terms of her own thought-processes and beliefs.

In :WineSpeak:, Klem has lifted and collated every descriptor for wine from hundreds of wine writers, from the well known and respected to the more niche and lesser known. Books, periodicals, web and blog sites from the pompously staid to the excitingly edgy were scoured by Klem to produce "WineSpeak:, a master wine tasting descriptor thesaurus.

Klem's :WineSpeak: has separated the wine descriptors into 3 major categories Appearance, Smell & Taste, and Distinctiveness, and then further broken down into 27 sub-categories, from Clarity ("so dense you need x-ray vision to see through it") and Color ("dark red with purple-blue tinge") through Acid ("enamel ripping") and Tannin ("undrinkable tough") , from Fruit ("piercing scents of black currants and raspberries") and Wood ("overburdened by oak") to Balance (" like a Michelangelo...everything in perfect proportion") and Finish ("long, pure and drawn out") - plus 19 more.

Aditionally, Klem has 20 special categories of wine descriptors, such as Terroir or Terror ("when you drink this wine you drink the place") and An Ecstasy of Erotica ("like performing a sexual act that involves silk sheets, melted dark chocolate and black cherries while the mingles scents of cinnamon, coffee and cola waft through the air").

Time I'll never get back

This book was so horrible I can't believe that it was meant to be a romance novel. The book starts off with Alessandro coming to stay at the house where Michelle is a housekeeper and for a few days they flirt with each other until Alessandro finally takes Michelle's virginity and leaves the country while she's sleeping.

After Alessandro finds out Michelle's pregnant he totally railroads her and desides he's going to marry her because in his opinion she's immoral because she didn't tell him she was a virgin and all she was looking for was to trap him by having his baby. Alessandro goes on to call the paparzzi to surround Michelle's store so that she has no choice but to back to Italy with him if she ever plans to live without journalist in her face (journalist I should remind you that Alessandro called in the first place) and then threatens to make her lose her job, her home, and to sue for sole custody and deny her any access. At this point in the book I was so disgusted that I felt the need to throw something, and to my horror the story just got worse from there.

Alessandro had a horrible childhood and didn't feel loved by his parents and the author explains this at the end of the story to explain away everything he did to Michelle, but it just made me hate him even more. Michelle also had a bad childhood but she didn't treat people like crap. The author's portrayal of Alessandro was truly disgusting, Alessandro even went as far as to tell Michelle after he told her they were getting married (told not asked)as they are about to go to bed together that he "does not do fidelity." Alessandro was rude and domineering throughout the whole book and decides that he was wrong and he really does "love" Michelle in the last five pages.

I would NOT recommend this book to anyone (or this author if her other books are anything like this one) who likes romances because this defintely not the one for you. Michelle has no self esteem, or the ability to stand up for herself, even going so far as to apologize to Alessandro for getting pregnant (as though it were totally her fault) because of bad publicity it may generate for his company. And Alessandro is an egotistical domineering pig with no thought for anyone's feelings, much less Michelle's.

Dont waste your time!

I have to agree with the other two reviewers. This book is bad. Both characters are weak and the storyline drags on with no real plot. I've never read a book by this author before and I will definitely make sure to steer clear in the future.

It was a huge disappointment. The plot was hard to follow. The main charactors was terrible. The male charactor was mean and controling. and the female was a push over. wish i didnt waste my money on this dribble.
